Abdullah Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet Mohammad - said: "The best of your Kohl is Athmad, for it improves the eyesight and makes the eyelashes grow" [Hassan, Sahheh, Ibn Majah]. In addition, Abu Dawood narrated that the Prophet Mohammad - r said: "Those who use Kohl should use it an odd number of times" for example, thrice in the right eye and twice in the left eye.
Ithmid is a black Kohl stone and the best kind which fragments easily comes from Isfahan, Iran. But it is also found in Western areas of Morocco.
